Many of you have been asking if you could stay over Christmas break.  In the past we have left the home in JBay open to any of the Africa participants wanting to stay in Africa over our Christmas break.  Over the past 2 years everything has worked out fine for those desiring to stay Go to fullsize imageand we’ve had plenty of room.  This year however, it seems that we’ve had a large number saying you wanted to stay for Christmas.  We need to get some numbers to see if we have enough room.  If you are currently planning on staying over the Christmas break and not flying home, then please post a comment below.  This does not commit you, but it helps us know how many are wanting to stay.  The year does get long and those who stay sometimes wish they would have taken the break and gone home.  With 41 participants and 10 staff, we can’t accomodate everyone.  At the most we can only house 20.  Please comment below if you want to stay.

  1. I plan on coming home..my parents are going to try and save up the money, buy tickets, and send them to me. I do want to throw out there though that’s it’s possible they wouldn’t be able to afford it..

  2. Im in the same boat as beth. the tickets were really expensive, and im going to do my best to raise all of the money needed for this flight, but there is a possibility that i will not raise enough in time. another thing, all of the flights that i looked at, they all leave only in the afternoon, not in the morning, that might change by the time i actually have enough to but the tickets, but i thought i should let you know just incase this could cause a future problem.

  3. i’m with the others…i would love to go home but just don’t see it possible with finances.

  4. I am most certainly staying over the break. However, I was planning on meeting up with my friends in Durban so we were probably going to stay with a family over there. If I do need to stay on site it wouldn’t be for the whole time.

  5. Hey Gail!

If I have to stay for Christmas, it’s possible I could end up going to Durban too! I ‘know’ some missionaries there from my church and they have offered to pay for my flight out if I can ever come see them while in SA. I haven’t talked to them about possibly coming for Christmas break, just said I would let them know if there would be a time. Maybe we could travel together?

  6. Wow, that’s over 25 people so far. We’re going to have to do something because 25 is going to be too many for the house. We’ll do some work on it.

  7. Hey Beth! That would be awesome if we could work something out for our travels. We will have to see when it comes!

  8. I never responded to this because I am going home but just so that y’all aren’t wondering about me – put me on the going home list!

  9. So I think I saw somewheres that it is $200 to stay in SA over break? Is this right? If so, is it part of the trip cost or do we have to pay this extra…and if so, when do we pay that? And what does it include…housing,food..ect?

  10. I plan on staying over Christmas break, but only need a place to stay for part of the time. My mom is coming over and we are going to travel for like 10 days.
