I believe in the power of God to turn my unbelief into an incredible portrait of who He is. My walk with Jesus so far has been characterized by falling down in weakness, and looking up and asking whether or not what Jesus did on the cross truly applies to even me. At the root of all my failures is just plain, sinful unbelief that God is who He says He is, and that He will do what He promises. But there, at my lowest points, God reminds me of the power of the cross. He reminds me that Jesus took on every single one of my sins, past, present and future, and paid for them with His blood. He strengthens me for that moment to believe through faith in the truth of the cross, and I can stand back up and continue walking. My prayer is the same as the father of the spirit-possessed boy in Mark 9, after witnessing the power of Jesus: “I believe; help my unbelief!”.
